Who is Meshell Ndegeocello

Meshell Ndegeocello is a US bassist and vocalist. Her music draws on funk, soul, jazz, hip-hop, reggae and rock, and is associated with neo-soul, contemporary R&B and singer-songwriter styles. She has been credited with helping to spark the neo-soul movement. She plays bass and sings, and also uses guitar and keyboard. Her releases include Plantation Lullabies (1993), Bitter (1999), Cookie: The Anthropological Mixtape (2002), The Article 3 EP (2006), Devil’s Halo (2009), Weather (2011), Comet, Come to Me (2014) and Synonym (2026). She has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards and won three.
