Cindy Blackman Santana

Cindy Blackman Santana is an American drummer working in jazz and rock, with activity also associated with jazz fusion. Since the 1980s, she has recorded a number of jazz albums as a bandleader. She has performed with artists including Pharoah Sanders, Sonny Simmons, Ron Carter, Sam Rivers, Cassandra Wilson, Angela Bofill, Buckethead, Bill Laswell, Lenny Kravitz, Joe Henderson and Joss Stone. Her leader discography includes Arcane (1988), Trio + Two (1991), In the Now (1998), A Lil’ Somethin’, Somethin’ (1999), Works on Canvas (1999), Someday... (2001), Another Lifetime (2010) and Give the Drummer Some (2020).
