Xhosa Cole

Xhosa Cole is a British tenor saxophonist, born around 1997. He came to prominence after winning the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 2018, followed by the Jazz Newcomer of the Year title at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards in 2019. His recorded work includes the albums *K(no)w Them, K(no)w Us* (2021) and *On A Modern Genius, Vol.1* (2025), both released through Stoney Lane Records, with a third album also issued on the label. Cole’s playing is rooted in the tenor saxophone tradition, with a sound that balances lyrical phrasing and rhythmic drive. His releases explore contemporary jazz compositions and reinterpretations of established repertoire. He is active across the UK live-jazz circuit, performing in clubs and festivals, and his work is documented on major music databases including Wikipedia, MusicBrainz and Discogs.
