Xhosa Cole

Xhosa Cole is a British tenor saxophonist, born around 1997. He came to prominence after winning the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 2018, followed by the Jazz Newcomer of the Year title at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards in 2019. His recorded work includes the albums K(no)w Them, K(no)w Us (2021) and On A Modern Genius, Vol.1 (2025), both released through Stoney Lane Records, with a third album also issued on the label.…

Xhosa Cole presents FreeMonk, a residency celebrating the life and music of Thelonious Monk. The saxophonist, winner of the 2018 BBC Young Jazz Musician of the year, brings his unique take on jazz to 11 Gillett Square, accompanied by Tim Giles on drums and Calum Gourlay on bass.
