Who is Pat Metheny

Pat Metheny is an American jazz guitarist whose work spans contemporary jazz, jazz fusion and blues-inflected electric playing. Born around 1954, he is known for a distinctive, fluid style on both acoustic and electric guitar, as well as for his use of guitar synthesizers and the multi-necked Pikasso guitar. His recordings include *Question and Answer* (1990), *Zero Tolerance for Silence* (1994), *The Unity Sessions* (2016) and *MoonDial* (2024), among others. Metheny has received 20 Grammy Awards over his career, reflecting a sustained presence in the genre. He has released albums across several decades, from *Live Montreal ’89* (2016) to *San Lorenzo* (2023), and maintains an active online presence across major platforms. His work is catalogued on MusicBrainz and Discogs, and he continues to perform and record as a solo artist and bandleader.
