Saxophonist Wess Anderson leads his quintet at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro in New Orleans for a birthday tribute to Alvin Batiste, his former teacher at Southern University. Anderson studied with Batiste, a clarinetist, composer and educator who helped shape the city’s jazz legacy, and later spent 20 years with Wynton Marsalis’ Septet. The evening honors Batiste’s influence as a mentor.
