Who is Kermit Ruffins

Kermit Ruffins (born c. 1964) is an American trumpeter, singer and composer from New Orleans, working in jazz, swing, dixieland and rhythm and blues. His playing and singing draw on the New Orleans tradition, with Louis Armstrong and Louis Jordan cited as key influences. He frequently sings on his own recordings, and his bands typically perform New Orleans jazz standards alongside his original compositions. The New York Times has described him as an entertainer with a bright, silvery trumpet tone. His recording career spans several decades, beginning with World on a String (1993) and including the live album The Barbecue Swingers Live (1998). Later releases include the self-titled Kermit Ruffins and Putumayo Presents: Kermit Ruffins (both 2005), Live at Vaughan's (2007), Livin' a Tremé Life and Have a Crazy Cool Christmas! (both 2009), and Happy Talk (2010). His catalogue mixes studio sessions with live recordings that reflect his long-standing presence on the New Orleans club scene. His music and further information are available through Wikipedia, MusicBrainz, Discogs and Bandcamp.
