Who is Maarja Nuut
Maarja Nuut is an Estonian singer and violinist whose work bridges classical training and traditional folk music. After beginning her studies in classical music, she turned towards the village style of traditional Estonian song, developing a distinctive approach that combines voice and violin. She made her solo debut in 2013, the same year she received the Artists Prize at Tallinn Music Week.
Since 2016, Nuut has collaborated with Hendrik Kaljujärv, who contributes abstract electronic soundscapes to their joint work. The duo have released recordings together and performed at international festivals, bringing Estonian folk traditions into dialogue with contemporary electronic music. Her work can be explored through her profiles on Wikipedia, Discogs and SoundCloud, and she maintains a presence on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
