Who is James Carter
James Carter is an American saxophonist whose work draws on the full breadth of jazz and blues traditions. Equally fluent on tenor, alto, soprano and baritone saxophones, he moves between hard-swinging post-bop, avant-garde textures and ballad playing. His discography includes *JC on the Set* (1993), *The Real Quietstorm* (1995), *In Carterian Fashion* (1998) and the tribute *Gardenias for Lady Day* (2003), as well as the collaborative *Live at Birdland* set from the Django Reinhardt Festival.
