Emma-Jean Thackray

Emma-Jean Thackray is an English multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, vocalist and DJ working across electronic, jazz, funk, soul and free-jazz forms. Born around 1989, she has built a reputation as a versatile live performer, having directed the London Symphony Orchestra and appeared at Glastonbury. Her debut album *Yellow* (2021) won the Jazz FM Album of the Year award in 2022, following her 2021 public-vote win for Act of the Year. Thackray’s discography includes *Ley Lines* (2018), *UM YANG 음 양* (2020), the *Rain Dance* EP (2020), and the *Yellower* volumes (2022). Her 2025 album *Weirdo* was written, performed, recorded and produced entirely by her. She is active across major streaming and social platforms, with releases available via Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music and others.
