Who is Billy Cobham

Billy Cobham is a Panamanian-American drummer, composer and bandleader, born around 1944, whose work has been central to jazz fusion and jazz-funk. He plays drum kit, percussion and voice, and is best known for his powerful, technically precise style. His 1973 album *Spectrum* remains a key reference point in the genre, and his discography spans several decades, including *Inner Conflicts* (1978), *Incoming* (1989), *By Design* (1992) and *Art of Four* (2006). He has also recorded as part of collaborative projects, such as *Johannes Faber's Consortium* (1985) and *Paradox, The First Second* (1998). Cobham’s recorded output also includes *Off Color* (1999), showing a consistent presence across jazz, funk and fusion contexts.
