Count Basie Orchestra

The Count Basie Orchestra is a 16 to 18 piece big band associated with the swing era. Founded by Count Basie in 1935, it began recording regularly in 1936. After a brief disbandment in the early 1950s, the ensemble continued performing beyond the big band era and after Count Basie’s death in 1984. It continues under the direction of Scotty Barnhart.
