ASTRO

ASTRO, the Anders Svanoe Teleporting Rhythmic Orchestra, returns to Cafe Coda in Madison as a fearless large ensemble of improvisers from Madison, Milwaukee, and Decorah. Led by Svanoe on baritone sax, the group features two bassists and two percussionists, weaving adventurous free improvisation with groove‑driven compositions. Critics compare their bold rhythms and rich textures to Sun Ra, while the collective remains uniquely powerful.
