Who is The Essence

The Essence is a Dutch band formed in 1984, working across alternative rock, gothic rock and dark wave. Led by Hans Diener, the current line-up includes Mark Tan on bass and George Tan on drums. Its sound draws on British new wave and post-punk. The group has often been compared with The Cure, while also building recognition for its own original material.
