Who is The Essence
The Essence is a Dutch band formed in 1984, working across alternative rock, gothic rock and dark wave. Led by Hans Diener, the current line-up includes Mark Tan on bass and George Tan on drums. Its sound draws on British new wave and post-punk.
The group has often been compared with The Cure, while also building recognition for its own original material. Public listings and music databases document the band through Wikipedia, its official website, Facebook and Discogs.
