Who is Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal, born approximately 1942 in the US, is a guitarist, pianist and singer. His documented styles include folk, blues, blues rock, contemporary folk, electric blues, country blues and acoustic blues. He also plays harmonica. His work incorporates elements of world music and blends blues with sounds from the Caribbean, Africa, India, Hawaii and the South Pacific. His releases include Happy Just to Be Like I Am (1971), Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues: Taj Mahal (2003), Mkutano (2005), Oh So Good 'N Blues / Mo' Roots (2009), Brothers / Music Fuh Ya’ (Musica Para Tu) / Evolution (The Most Recent) (2015), Swingin' Live at the Church in Tulsa (2024), Ksan Studio, San Francisco,1971 (Remastered, Live On Broadcasting) (2025), and Adios Ke Aloha Waves of the Same Sea (2026).
