Mike Stern

Mike Stern (born c. 1953) is an American jazz guitarist whose career spans several decades of high-profile collaboration. His playing blends jazz improvisation with elements drawn from rock and blues, and he is recognised for a fluid, energetic approach to the electric guitar. Over the course of his career, Stern has performed and recorded with a wide range of leading jazz figures, including Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Jaco Pastorius, Joe Henderson, Jim Hall, Pat Martino, Tom Harrell, Arturo Sandoval, Tiger Okoshi, Michael Brecker, Bob Berg and David Sanborn. He has also worked with the groups Steps Ahead and the Brecker Brothers, and has released numerous albums as a bandleader.
