Who is Liquid Soul

Liquid Soul is an American ensemble formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1993, blending jazz, hip-hop, funk and freestyle influences. The group became associated with the acid jazz movement in the United States during the 1990s, a style founder Mars Williams described as "Beyond Acid Jazz". Williams, a saxophonist who also played with the Psychedelic Furs, the Waitresses, the Power Station, Billy Squier and Billy Idol, co-founded the band with guitarist Tommy Klein, formerly of the Spies Who Surf, and Chicago DJ Jesse De La Peña. The band's recorded output spans more than a decade, beginning with the self-titled album Liquid Soul in 1996, followed by Make Some Noise (1998), Here's the Deal (2000), Evolution (2002) and One-Two Punch (2006). Their catalogue is tagged on MusicBrainz under jazz-funk and acid jazz, reflecting the fusion at the core of their sound. Further information about the group, including releases and current activity, can be found via their official website, Wikipedia entry, MusicBrainz and Discogs listings, and their Instagram and Facebook pages.
