The Vail Jazz Festival is staged at the Manor Vail Lodge, 595 Vail Valley Drive, facing Vail Mountain, and has anchored the Labor Day weekend in the valley for more than three decades — 2026 was the 32nd annual edition. It is a compact, single-site event rather than a town-wide circuit, with concerts, jam sessions and a Sunday morning gospel session over three days.
The festival is the public face of a year-round nonprofit whose other main activity is the Vail Jazz Workshop, a competitive summer program for high-school musicians; workshop students perform during the festival weekend. Programming stays close to mainstream and traditional jazz, with sets built around tributes to jazz figures and around groups assembled for the occasion rather than touring packages.
