Seacoast Jazz, jazz festival in Portsmouth

City: Portsmouth
Where: Portsmouth, New Hampshire
When: Late August
Since: 1983

First held in 1983 as the Portsmouth Jazz Festival, the event spent more than twenty-five years as the Tommy Gallant Jazz Festival, named for the local pianist and composer, before taking its present name. The 2026 edition was the 43rd, making it one of the longest-running jazz festivals in northern New England.

In 2026 the festival expanded into a full Portsmouth Jazz Weekend: the daytime festival in Prescott Park on Saturday August 22, followed by evening sets at The Press Room, reviving the older practice of musicians and audience carrying on at the club after the park emptied. The bill is drawn largely from New England - the Yoko Miwa Trio, the Soggy Po' Boys, the Nick Grondin Group, Salsa Secrets and the Seacoast Big Band all played in 2026.
