San Jose Jazz has been presenting the festival for roughly three and a half decades; the organization marks its 35th anniversary around the 2027 edition, which is already scheduled for August 13-15. The 2026 festival ran August 7-9. Programming is split across named stages — the Jay Paul Company Main Stage and the PG&E Latin Tropical Stage among them — which reflects the festival's long-standing commitment to Latin jazz and salsa alongside straight-ahead and contemporary jazz.
Beyond the outdoor stages, the festival uses downtown's existing rooms through the CEFCU Club Crawl, an indoor circuit of club sets included with a festival pass, plus busker performances on the streets between venues. That combination of ticketed plaza stages and walkable club programming is what distinguishes it from the region's single-site festivals.
