The Reno Jazz Festival is produced by the University of Nevada, Reno School of the Arts with the College of Liberal Arts, and takes place on the Reno campus with the Nightingale Concert Hall as its principal room. It is the main jazz festival in Nevada, and its calendar position in late April makes it the anchor event of the northern Nevada jazz year.
The structure combines two full days of daytime student performances and clinics — led by artist-educators drawn from around the country — with ticketed evening concerts by the headline artists. The 2026 bill featured pianist Kris Davis and saxophonist Ben Wendel; the 2027 edition, scheduled for April 29 to May 1, brings trombonist Nick Finzer and saxophonist Walter Smith III.
