Founded in 2005 in Provincetown - the oldest continuous arts colony in the United States - the festival has grown into an annual two-day event and has reached its twenties in edition count. A portion of the proceeds goes to the JAZZ in the Schools program on Cape Cod, and the organization also programs additional jazz dates around the Cape outside the festival weekend, including at the Eastham Library.
The festival is modest in scale next to the region's larger events, and that is the point: it books working jazz musicians for a resort town that otherwise has little dedicated jazz programming, in the weeks when Cape Cod is at its busiest. The 23rd annual edition is announced for August 2027.
