Prairie Village Jazz Festival

The Prairie Village Jazz Festival is a one-day outdoor festival in Harmon Park, on the Kansas side of the Kansas City metro. The 2026 edition took place on September 12.

PV JazzFest, jazz festival in Prairie Village

City: Prairie Village
Where: Prairie Village, Kansas
When: Mid-September
Since: 2010

Founded in 2010 and now in its sixteenth year, the festival is run by the City of Prairie Village in partnership with the Prairie Village Foundation. It runs a single afternoon-into-evening program, roughly 3pm to 9pm, on one stage in Harmon Park, with admission at $5 for adults and free for anyone under 18.

Its booking policy is specific and unusual: the festival programs top jazz acts that all have Kansas City connections, which turns it into an annual survey of the metro's working players rather than a touring-headliner event. The 2026 bill ran from the Shawnee Mission East Blue Knights student band through Nick Hmeljak's Open Channel, Stanley Sheldon's Rhythm Republic and the Stephen Martin Quartet to Freedom Affair. Audiences bring blankets and lawn chairs; food and drink are sold on site.
