The festival is the signature project of Friends of John Coltrane, Inc., a High Point 501(c)(3) charity. Coltrane grew up in High Point, and the organization ties the festival to year-round work in the city: a masterclass series and a student instrument contest that places new instruments with young musicians. The 2026 edition, the fifteenth, takes place September 5 and 6 at Oak Hollow Festival Park on Eastchester Drive.
The bill is deliberately broad, covering jazz, blues, R&B and adjacent territory, and in 2026 includes Ravi Coltrane, Cyrille Aimée, Victor Wooten and the Wooten Brothers, Ledisi, Raul Midón, Chieli Minucci, Marcus Anderson, Mike Phillips, the Lao Tizer Band and Garry Percell with the NC Coltrane All-Star Band. Tickets are sold rather than free.
