JAS June Experience

Jazz Aspen Snowmass was established in 1991 as a 501(c)(3) whose stated mission is to present and preserve jazz and related forms through performances and education. The organization now runs two very different summer events; the June Experience is the one that keeps the jazz mandate, while the Labor Day festival has moved toward mainstream pop. The 2026 June Experience ran June 25-28 with roughly fifteen acts.

The format is deliberately un-festival-like: instead of one field with one stage, staggered sets run all evening across up to ten venues within walking distance in downtown Aspen, so attendees build their own night. The 2026 edition opened at the Paul JAS Center, the organization's recently opened year-round home, and the bill spanned jazz, soul, funk and blues — Christian McBride, Cory Henry, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe and The Family Stone among them.
