PDX Jazz is a 501(c)(3) cultural arts organization that presents concerts year-round and produces the March festival as its centerpiece, currently under the title sponsorship of the audio company Biamp. Rather than building a festival site, it books existing Portland rooms — The Old Church, Revolution Hall, the Newmark Theatre, the Alberta Rose Theatre and Argyle Winery all appeared on recent editions — so the festival functions as a concentrated takeover of the city's concert calendar.
The scale is unusual for the Pacific Northwest: more than fifty performances across around thirty venues in ten days. Programming ranges wide, from established jazz artists to adjacent songwriters and instrumentalists; the 2026 bill included the Bill Frisell Trio, Madeleine Peyroux, Mavis Staples and St. Vincent. The 2027 edition is scheduled for March 4-13.
