Created in 1984 and modelled on New Orleans-style street jazz, Brecon Jazz Festival is one of the UK’s most storied jazz events, with a legacy that includes figures such as George Melly. Performances fill the town’s venues — including Theatr Brycheiniog, The Muse and The Guildhall — alongside free outdoor stages.
Set against the backdrop of the Welsh mountains, the festival mixes world-class jazz with local and community programming, retaining the town-wide, street-level character that first made it famous.
